Art is a way of life for Lori. She feels it engages the intellect, softens the heart and frees the spirit. Lori obtained her Degree in Fine Arts in Montreal, where she was born. She then continued her journey to British Columbia and attended Emily Carr Institute in 1991. Now a full-time Artist, Lori McPhee's untamed passion for creating unique and textures artwork knows no boundaries.
Each piece contains intensity, purity, strength in color and simply conveys a synthesis of the various influences she has experienced. Working with passion, she attacks each canvas individually and lets the images flow through her being. Using brushes, palette knives and whatever else is necessary to create her masterpieces, her talents shines in her images.
In 2001, she began a Musician series, described as contemporary with graphic elements. These stylishly portrayed musical figures now grace multiple prominent Landmarks abroad. There is some texture in these musician pieces, but in her trees and landscapes her techniques of using moulding paste and crackle, make each piece unique with their amazing texture. The work needs to be seen in person to be fully appreciated.
Her works have been displayed at the B.C. Children's Hospital Lottery Home and the Hometown Heroes lottery Show Home. Her original paintings are collected privately and corporately across Canada, The United States, and around the world.
